Energy efficiency
ASHPs are highly efficient and provide significantly more heat output than the electricity they consume. Some models offer up to 3-4 units of heat for every unit of electricity (300-400% efficiency). This is much higher than fossil fuel heating systems like conventional boilers, which can offer anything from 0.7-0.9 units of heat per unit of fuel (70-90% efficiency).

Types Of of Air Source Heat Pump
Air-to-air
Air-to-air heat pumps use fans to take heat from the outside air and deliver it into your house. You'll need a warm air circulation system to move the warmth throughout your property.
Air-to-water
An air-to-water system may be more suitable if you want a system that can provide space heating and hot water. These water heat pumps work by taking heat from the outside air and using it to heat water, which is stored in a cylinder.
Air source heat pump installation
A monoblock system
Most common in the UK when the external unit can be placed on or next to an outside wall. The external unit generates hot water and sends it into your property. If you only want it to provide heating (via radiators/underfloor heating), that's all you need. If you want the heat pump to also provide your hot water, you need an indoor hot-water storage cylinder.
A split system
Used when there's quite a distance between the external unit and house. This consists of an external unit and an internal heat exchanger about the size of a small boiler. Again, if it's just for heating, that's all you need, but if you want it to provide your hot water, you'll also need a hot-water cylinder.
